Rich, feminine colours for spring

The new ARTISTRY SIGNATURE COLOR Eye & Cheek collection matches this season's trends.

This spring, the fashion world is helping to lift our post-winter spirits with a wide palette of fresh colours. Catwalk shows for spring 2016 collections exhibited a rainbow of shades, from subtle to vibrant. ARTISTRY™ was well aware of these upcoming trends and, right on time, has launched the ARTISTRY SIGNATURE COLOR™ Eye & Cheek collection, a range of pretty, flattering eye and cheek colours. Each exquisite eye shadow colour palette is already colour coordinated with four complementary shades for creating mesmerising eye looks that are right on trend. The new ARTISTRY SIGNATURE COLOR Eye & Cheek collection now replaces the current ARTISTRY eye colours, powder blushes and automatic eyeliner pencils.

One of the new season’s easy to wear shades is rose quartz, the one of Pantone’s Color of the Year 2016. The natural crystal colour is perfect for those of us who’ve been used to wearing darker clothing over the winter and are now ready for a splash of gentle pink. A rose quartz blouse pairs up wonderfully with a business blazer for a more feminine variation on the classic white shirt.

Gentle, rosy tones suit the spring season perfectly too, blending with the light tree blossoms around us outside. Wearing such subtle colours calls for pretty but sophisticated make-up shades. One of the new ARTISTRY Eye Shadow Quads has a delicious name: Pink Chocolate. This SIGNATURE COLOR Quad offers a palette of light, warm browns – ideal as a gentle contrast to rose quartz. Use the Sweet Pink Blush and Brown Longlasting Eye Pencil shades with the Pink Chocolate Eye Shadow Quad.

Impressive purples

Another hue reflecting a precious stone, amethyst purple, is also in fashion right now. Like the stone itself, its depth of colour on the catwalks ranged from pale lilac to an impressively deep purple, reflecting the gorgeous colour of the crocus in spring.

This darker shade looks stunning in some of the season’s lacey and satin fabrics. The Plumberry Eye Shadow Quad, containing dusky pinks and berry shades, and Plumberry Eye Pencil create tasteful harmony with an outfit in amethyst purple. As an alternative, the Smoky Eye Quad, along with the Graphite Shimmer Eye Pencil, could add a little more drama or evening glamour, especially with a dress in the stronger hues of amethyst purple.

The Peachy Pink Blush is a perfect companion to both the Plumberry and Smoky Eye make-up palettes.

Soft greens

Moss green, in textiles ranging from leather to fine lace effects, are also popular this spring and mirror the gradual awakening of nature at this time of year. As this shade has a tendency to make our complexion look a little dull, however, we need our makeup look to add some healthy shine.

The Spice Bronze Eye Shadow Quad, with its flattering pinky browns, creates a warm contrast to cool moss green, as does the Blush in shimmering Golden Light. Use the Eye Pencil and an ARTISTRY mascara in Black for more depth and definition.

Using the Eye Shadow Quad and Blush shades to suit your spring outfit, here’s a step-by-step guide to a trendy make-up look:

  1. Apply ARTISTRY foundation and powder to suit your skin tone, to set the base for your colour make-up.

  2. Use the Eye Pencil to line your upper lashes. For more drama, apply the pencil lightly along the lower lashes too.

  3. From the Eye Shadow Quad, apply the largest and lightest of the four shades to your entire eyelids, up to just beneath your eyebrow.

  4. Add depth with the contour shade in your palette – apply to the crease of your eyelid and the outer corner of your eye. You could also stroke this shade along your lower lashes to add definition, as a subtle alternative to the eye pencil.

  5. The accent colour is the most vibrant tone in the palette. Apply it to the centre of your eyelid, but also just under your brow bone for some glamorous emphasis.

  6. Softly smudge the darkest eye shade along your upper lash lines for sultry definition. Then, sweep over your eyelashes with your favourite ARTISTRY mascara.

  7. Brush on the Blush shade just under your cheekbones.

  8. Complete your look with a delicate tint of ARTISTRY lip gloss.
