Ready to kick-start the new year with healthy routines and nutritious recipes, while also making more time for yourself? We have a solution that ticks all the boxes. Meal prepping is a great way to maximise the time you have during the week, while also giving you a chance to up your intake of vitamins and minerals. Because even if you’re spending more time working from home, it doesn’t necessarily follow that you have any more room in your schedule.

Preparing and storing meals cuts down on the hours you spend in the kitchen and makes it easier to eat healthy home-cooked meals without much of a hassle. As an added bonus, it’ll help you to reduce your weekly spending, by limiting the amount of takeaway or delivery food you order. Delicious food, more time and a great new routine? Sounds like a win-win.

Learn to love meal preparation

The first and most important step to meal prepping is establishing a weekly routine. Mark a time slot in your calendar, for example on Saturday afternoons, to find recipes, do the grocery shopping and, of course, prepare the meals. After you have cooked your feast, let it cool for 1–2 hours, to nearly room temperature, and pack it into the refrigerator in sealed containers – or even the iCook mixing bowls with lids .

As a general rule, you can safely leave beef, chicken and pasta in the fridge for 3–4 days, and most salads for around five days, before eating them. Alternatively, if you want your meal prepping to last well into the future, simply store your food in the freezer! When reheating the food, avoid putting plastic in the microwave and be sure to thaw out frozen meals before heating them.

When choosing meals to prepare, opt for something that you won’t get tired of after the first try and, naturally, something that has plenty of nutrients to fuel your busy lifestyle. Roasted vegetables and chicken

This delicious roast requires few dishes and has a great flavour punch that will leave you wanting more! If you want to keep your vegetables extra fresh, season them and then store them in the fridge in your preferred iCook mixing bowl with lid .
