Eating delicious, nutritious and aesthetically pleasing meals is not as hard as it may seem. Here are five tips for improving your eating habits – and a tasty recipe to boot

Two things are crucial to a healthy lifestyle: eating healthy and exercising. Eating healthy food is where many people struggle, partly because of the belief that healthy cooking is a chore. But, the truth is that it only takes slight adjustments to your eating habits to improve health and wellbeing.

Here are some easy ways you can make changes to your current eating habits to reap benefits in the long run.

Simple ways to prepare healthier meals

1. Plan ahead

Preparing your meals in advance improves your chances of making healthy choices where food is concerned. You’ll have a greater chance of resisting temptations. Not only does it support your healthy eating habits, but it also saves you time, which is an added bonus.

2. Use herbs and spices instead of salt

Cooking with excessive added salt can have a negative impact on your well-being. Season your meals with fresh herbs and spices and, if you’re looking for a tasty alternative to salt, try using a dash of soy or fish sauce. Where you can help it, don’t use processed seasonings.

3. Keep the nutrients

Instead of peeling your vegetables before cooking, scrub them – as most of the nutrients can be found in the skin.
