You might know that NutriliteTM farms provide ingredients for NutriliteTM food supplements. But what if we told you there are things you don’t know – but absolutely should? You’re in luck – we’re about to share them with you.

Long before ‘sustainability’ became a megatrend, NutriliteTM had already embraced the philosophy – and the practice. In fact, all botanicals used in NutriliteTM products have been grown using sustainable farming methods since the very beginning. So, let’s dive a little deeper into the fascinating world of the Nutrilite brand with five fun facts about sustainability at its farms.

1. The Nutrilite brand is one-of-a-kind

Nutrilite is the only global vitamin and dietary supplement brand to grow, harvest and process plants on their own organic farms.* All Nutrilite™-owned farms are certified organic under US law. Additionally, the four Nutrilite™-owned farms are located across North and South America (in the US, Mexico and Brazil).

When combined, the farms cover more than 2,000 hectares of farming land! Furthermore, they use sustainable methods to grow a huge variety of plants – from blueberry, chia, spinach, dandelion, echinacea and lemon balm crops to more than 127,000 acerola cherry trees. One more fun fact? The acerola cherries are harvested before they’re ripe, while still green. Why? Because this is when vitamin C levels are at their peak – making them perfect for a variety of Nutrilite™ products!

2. Even partner farms use sustainable farming methods

Nutrilite™ grows all of the botanicals contained in its products in environments that allow the best growing conditions. Therefore, these plants are grown on trusted and carefully selected partner farms that have completed the NutriCertTM Certification Program. The comprehensive NutriCertTM certification requires supplier farms to strictly follow the Nutrilite™ safety regulations, employ fair labour practices, refrain from using harsh chemicals or pesticides, meet sustainable farming standards, and be socially responsible.

3. Falcons and ladybugs protect the plants

Ever wondered what it takes to protect crops naturally? On a variety of Nutrilite™ farms, professionally trained falcons help protect crops by scaring away pesky harmful birds that like to eat the plants. Additionally, crops are protected from bad bugs not with pesticides, but with ladybugs! The diverse range of Nutrilite™ crops attracts large populations of ladybugs that eat a variety of bad bugs that would otherwise spoil the crops.

4. NutriliteTM farms nourishes crops with the help of worms

On Nutrilite™ El Petacal Farm in Mexico, a dedicated team attentively cares for an on-site red earthworm farm. Why? It’s an essential part of nourishing the crops. The worms can produce more than 260,000 litres of liquid biofertiliser every year to help naturally fertilise the fields.

5. Five hectares of land, just for science

At 643 hectares, Nutrilite™ El Petacal Farm in Mexico is impressive in size. Equally impressive is the fact that five hectares of land are exclusively dedicated to science and research. This includes, but is not limited to, finding the optimum time for harvesting to ensure nutrients are at their greatest levels, as well as discovering which parts of plants yield the highest nutrient content. This allows the Nutrilite™ team of scientists to continue to deliver effective products.
