A diet that strictly reduces fat is one way to better health. Or is it? Most would agree that cutting out as much fat as possible is important. But not all fats are bad. Polyunsaturated Omega-3 fatty acids come in three main types: Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).

So what do Omega-3 fatty acids do?

They play an important role in supporting a wide variety of bodily functions. Helping cell membrane development which ultimately strengthens our immune system is one of them. ALA takes part in maintaining of normal blood cholesterol levels. EPA and DHA play a role in normal function of the heart.

ALA is found in nuts, beans and seeds but also in vegetable oils made from linseed, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, rapeseed, soya beans or olives.
As you can see, getting enough Omega-3 fatty acids is pretty easy by adjusting your diet. For those of you who may skip meals due to a busy day however, eating consciously is not always simple.
